My name is David T. Hawkins and I am running for Leon County Commissioner, At-large, group 1. I have lived in Leon County for more than 57 years and I have been a state employee for over 35 Years. Leon County is my home and always will be. In the 2016 election, I was the runner-up to Ms. Lindley receiving more than 46,000 votes. During that campaign, I gained experience on running for Office, met a lot of great people and became friends with my opponent, Commissioner Lindley. In talking with her, I learned that we have similar goals, like job creation, lowering the crime rate and improving our economy. They say, to run for office, pick three things that are most important to you. Instead, I chose four: curbing wasteful spending, crime reduction, economic growth and improving our infrastructure.
