My name is David Hawkins and I have been into Cars my whole life, owning close to 250 since High School. Doing everything from Customizing them to Rebuilding them to
Creating them. In 1997, I sent a proposal to Carroll Shelby to be able to create the “Tribute Edition Shelby” Mustangs starting with the 1994 Mustangs. After about 16 Months, Contracts were
signed and my new Company, “MUSTANG F/X, Inc.” was born. Instead of the usual 2 Year Contract, I was given a 5 Year Contract and built close to 100 Cars using 1994 to 2005 Mustangs. I used
the GT 350 for the V6 Mustangs, the GT 500 for the GT Mustangs and the GT 500KR for the Cobra Mustangs. After the Contracts were signed, I got a call from his Attorney telling me that Carroll
had shut down two Companies that were producing the Shelby Emblems that I was using and expect them to rise greatly in price, which they did. After the first 5 Cars were built, Mr. Shelby
allowed me to design my own Emblems.
Hanging out with Mr. Shelby over the Years at the big MCA Mustang Shows, chatting and exchanging Ideas, I was allowed to create the Tribute Edition Shelby Hauler, Tribute
Edition Shelby Mountain Bikes, Die Cast Cars and Tee Shirts. His Attorney told me that Carroll loves everything I have done and that I can pretty much do what I want, I just need to keep him in
the loop so they can do the Addendums to my Contract. I remember, during one of our conversations, he asked how it was going and I mentioned that about half the Cars being built are V6 Models,
I remember how he was intrigued with that bit of news. After the 5 Years, when my Contract ended and Carroll’s Company, Shelby American, started building the Shelby GT Mustangs, I was told that,
because about half of the Tribute Edition Shelby Mustangs that I created were V6 Models, Carroll Shelby created and produced the Shelby CS6 Mustang through Shelby American.
Carroll liked how I always used the best Materials to produce the Tribute Edition Shelby Mustangs and that I took great pride in what I was doing. I remember telling
him that I have a lot of pride in what I do because, not only is his name at stake, so is mine, I still take great pride in what I do. The “Tribute Edition Shelbys” were designed and produced
to pay honor to Carroll Shelby for everything he has done for the Automotive World. 20 Years later, I have decided to create a series of Cars to Honor Carroll Shelby, the “BLACK HAT” Series,
to do so, I am starting a new Company, “BLACK HAT PERFORMANCE, Inc.” The first Car offered will be a unique CSX6000 series 1965 Shelby 427 Cobra Black Hat. The money you send in goes to
building YOUR Black Hat Edition Shelby.
BLACK HAT PERFORMANCE is planning on producing just 15 of these special limited edition CSX6000 Shelby BLACK HAT Cobras. The COOL part is, unlike all the Cobra
Replicas, we will be using REAL CSX6000 Shelby Continuation Cobras, NOT replicas, yes, REAL Shelby Cobra’s. The BEST part is, only 15 will be built and they will be priced at just about
$385,000 each plus Tax and all will be built the same, all will be painted Gloss Black with Satin Black LeManns Stripes, Black Interior and have Black Ceramic Coated Side Exhaust. All
will have an Aluminum 427 Big Block Motor from Carroll Shelby Engine Company stroked to 468 with 585HP and Unique BLACK HAT Emblems. Each will come with a Black Stetson Cowboy Hat like
Carroll Shelby used to wear. We are using REAL CSX6000 Shelby Cobra’s and only 15 will be built with a price starting at just $385,000 each.
How this works is, the Client orders a CSX6000 Shelby BLACK HAT Cobra through Black Hat Performance and puts down a $25,000 Deposit. That money is to secure your
place in line for the 1965 CSX6000 Shelby Cobra Roller. When the time comes to purchase the Roller, the Client then must send a Payment of $250,000 to pay for the Roller and the Drive Train
so we can begin production. Once the Shelby Cobra Roller is in the shop and the work has begun, the Client then sends another Payment of $110,000 to keep the build on schedule, we will also
get your Hat Size at that time. When completed, the 1965 Shelby BLACK HAT Cobra is then driven about 50 Miles to work out any issues. Afterwards, the Client will be called to let them know
that their 1965 Shelby BLACK HAT Cobra is ready for pick up and that is when they will receive the Keys, Title and their new Black Stetson Hat.
These special Cars are built to order. The CSX6000 Cobra Body and Chassis are created in South Africa then shipped to the States where it is completed and turned into a
BLACK HAT EDITION Cobra. I think it will take about 2 to 3 Months to complete once landed in the States. As an option, for about $20,000 extra, we can locate a new CSX6000 Roller, buy it and
have it Repainted to Gloss Black. That way, you can shave off about 6 to 8 Months wait time.
Only 15 1965 427 COBRA BLACK HATs will be produced. All will be Black with Black Satin Stripes and Black Interior. Each one will come with a Black Stetson
Hat like Carroll Shelby wore.
